After earning a Master’s in Social Work from Catholic University, Marianne worked in a non-profit setting for several years with foster and adoptive children and their families. As a therapist, Marianne has provided psychotherapy to a diverse population of clients on a wide variety of issues. In her clinical work, Marianne’s belief is that all families, children and adults have strengths and innate resiliency. Marianne utilizes cognitive/behavioral techniques, play therapy, attachment-based and trauma interventions, and stress management to assist clients in capitalizing on their strengths, gaining a better understanding of themselves, and enhancing their relationships.
In addition to her private practice Marianne is a Mental Health Consultant to the Capagna Center's Alexandria Head Start Program.
Marianne actively continues her clinical training and education and is currently completing a Post Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Virginia Tech. Her clinical training focuses on the development of trusting relationships throughout the life cycle and considers the impact of trauma on these relationships. She has facilitated groups such as anger management for teens and support for 9/11 survivors.
Outside of her private practice, Marianne enjoys spending time and staying busy with her three children and husband.
